1. Updated City Hall Lobby Hours Effective March 1st, 2024:

Beginning March 1st, 2024, Eldora City Hall will be adjusting its lobby hours to better serve our community. Please take note of our new lobby hours:

Monday - Friday: 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Phone Availability: Our phone lines will remain open during the following times:

Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Appointments Available: Can't make it during our lobby hours? No problem! Appointments are now available during non-lobby hours to accommodate your busy schedule. Contact us to schedule an appointment with our staff.

• Emailed Water Bills (Optional): Transitioning to electronic water bills to provide a more efficient and eco-friendly billing experience for our residents.

As we dive into the process of crafting the fiscal year 2025 budget, we aim to ensure our residents have a clear understanding of how cities go about planning their budgets. The city budgeting process can be intricate and multifaceted. To simplify this process and provide insight into how you can contribute, we recommend watching a video prepared by the Iowa League of Cities. This video breaks down the steps involved and offers guidance on how you can participate.

DNR Residential Tree Distribution Program

The Iowa DNR through a partnership with Alliant Energy, is excited to offer private residents the opportunity to buy landscape-sized trees at an extreme discount. Trees provide a myriad of benefits to homeowners including reduced home heating and cooling costs, decreased stormwater, shade for outdoor activities, higher home values, and enhanced beauty.

Please make sure to review Chapter 151 of the Eldora Code before purchasing your trees.

HOUSING IMPROVEMENT ASSSISTANCE AVAILABLE TO HOMEOWNERS

The Region 6 Housing Trust Fund is seeking applications from homeowners who desire to improve the exterior of their homes or need other emergency housing improvements. Funds are available for income-qualified households who live in Hardin, Marshall, Poweshiek, and Tama Counties.

Program Information:

• Eligible exterior housing improvements include items such as roofs, siding, windows, and gutters.

• Emergency housing improvements may include ramps and other accessibility improvement, furnaces, and water and sewer lines.

• Homeowners who are buying a house under a land sales contract are not eligible unless the home can be refinanced with a conventional mortgage.

• Property insurance is required by the time the work is approved.

• The majority of funding is available in the form of a non-repayable loan. Some households may have a limited repayment at 0% interest rate.

Households that have projected future incomes under these values are eligible for the program:

• 1 person $46,800

• 2 person $53,450

• 3 person $60,150

• 4 person $66,800

• 5 person $72,150

• Add $5,350 for each person thereafter

Households with incomes less than 37% of the above figures are priorities with some of our funding, so more immediate assistance is possible. Households that are closer to the income eligibility limit based on family size may be put on a waiting list until funding is available.
